New Germany is a city in Carver County, Minnesota. County Roads 30 and 33 are two of the main routes. State Highway 7 is in close proximity to the city. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.00 square mile (2.59 km2), all of it land. The elevation is 984 ft (300 m) above sea level.

NEW GERMANY, a city in sections 4 and 5, Camden, was named in compliment to the many German settlers in its vicinity. During World War I, this name was changed to Motordale, on account of popular indignation against Germany. It was incorporated as a village in 1901; its post office was established in 1886 as Purity and changed to New Germany in 1902 to match its railroad station. The community had feed, saw, and sorghum mills, a canning factory, and several grain elevators.
