History:

REVERE, a city in sections 23-26 of North Hero, platted in May 1886, and incorporated as a village February 21, 1900, was named in honor of Paul Revere, a patriot in the American Revolution, renowned for his ride from Boston to Lexington, April 18-19, 1775, to arouse the Minutemen, as told by Henry W. Longfellow in "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere." He was born in Boston, January 1, 1735, and died there May 10, 1818. The city was first platted as two blocks in 1886 by John E. Blunt for the Chicago and North Western Railway land company; Lewis J. Rongstad built a general store, where he opened the post office in 1893.
