Guide to Annandale Minnesota

Annandale is a city in Wright County, Minnesota. Minnesota State Highways 24 and 55 are two of the main routes in the city. Annandale is located 50 miles northwest of Minneapolis; and 25 miles south of Saint Cloud. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.01 square miles (7.80 km2), all of it land. The elevation is 1,070 feet (326 m).

ANNANDALE, a Minneapolis, St. Paul and Sault Ste. Marie Railroad (Soo Line) village in section 30 of Corinna, platted in October 1886, was incorporated as a village April 17, 1888, and reincorporated in 1962. It was named for the Annan River and the seaport of Annan at its mouth on the Solway Firth in southern Scotland or, as suggested by Sen. W. D. Washburn, for the showgirl Lizzie Annandale, a minor celebrity of the time. Five other states of the Union have villages of this name. The village was originally established as Abbeyville, but because the name was already in use in the state, it was changed to Annandale. The townsite was platted by James Pratt on a large part of his homestead. The post office began in 1887, with William H. Towle, postmaster.
