History:

BROOKLYN Township, settled in 1852, organized May 11, 1858, was named by pioneers from southern Michigan, who came in 1853, for the former township and present railway village of Brooklyn in that state, about 20 miles northwest of Adrian.

BROOKLYN PARK, a city incorporated on April 14, 1954, was the major part of the original Brooklyn Township, including the early town of Harrisburg.
