Guide to Clarkfield Minnesota

Clarkfield is a city in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. U.S. Route 59 and Minnesota State Highway 67 are two of the main routes in the city. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.09 square miles (2.82 km²), all of it land. The elevation is 1,089 ft (332 m).

CLARKFIELD, a village of the Minneapolis and St. Louis Railroad in sections 4, 5, 8, and 9 of Friendship, platted October 7, 1884, incorporated May 12, 1887, and separated from the township on November 11, 1910, was "named in honor of Mr. [Thomas E.] Clark, who was connected with the railroad company." The post office began in 1883 as Upland, changing to Clarkfield in 1884.

An addition led to an eighty-six bed capacity. In April of 1980, the City of Clarkfield assumed ownership of the Care Center. A subsidiary of the Care Center, Clarkfield Home Care began in 1985. The city remains the governing body with management provided by Ecumen since 1987.
