Guide to Erskine Minnesota

Erskine is a city in Polk County, Minnesota. US Highway 2 is a main route in the community. US Highway 59 is nearby. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.01 square miles (2.62 km2), of which 0.68 square miles (1.76 km2) is land and 0.33 square miles (0.85 km2) is water. The elevation is 1,191 ft (363 m) above sea level.

ERSKINE, a city in section 4 of Knute Township, founded in 1889, was named in honor of George Q. Erskine, who platted the original townsite; he was born in New Hampshire, December 1, 1828, and died at Crookston, January 15, 1908. He came from Racine, Wis., to this county about 1885 and was president of the First National Bank of Crookston. The city was incorporated as a village on March 8, 1897, and reincorporated and separated from the township on April 24, 1917. The early village had a flour mill, three elevators, a hotel, a general store, and a station of the Great Northern and Soo Line railroads; the post office was established in 1889.
