Lancaster is a city in Kittson County, Minnesota. Lancaster is located along U.S. Highway 59, at the junction with Kittson County Roads 4, 5, and 6. The North Branch Two Rivers flows nearby. The Canadian border is located nine miles north of the city. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.30 square miles (5.96 km˛), all of it land. The elevation is 909 ft (277 m) above sea level.

As of the census of 2010, there were 340 people, 163 households, and 98 families residing in the city. The population density was 147.8 inhabitants per square mile (57.1/km2). There were 189 housing units at an average density of 82.2 per square mile (31.7/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 98.8% White, 0.6% Asian, and 0.6% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.5% of the population.
There were 163 households of which 20.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.4% were married couples living together, 5.5% had a female householder with no husband present, 1.2% had a male householder with no wife present, and 39.9% were non-families. 37.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 22.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.09 and the average family size was 2.74.
The median age in the city was 47.6 years. 20.3% of residents were under the age of 18; 8.9% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 16.7% were from 25 to 44; 30.9% were from 45 to 64; and 23.2% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 47.1% male and 52.9% female.

LANCASTER is a city on the border of Poppleton and Granville Townships; it was incorporated as a village on September 30, 1905; the post office was first called Lanerow, 1903, changing to Lancaster in 1904 when the Soo Line came through and named for a railroad official believed to have come from Lancashire County, England. The first business was a hotel built by Bernard Johnson, followed by three grain elevators.

Camping areas are identified with "Camping Permitted" signs. 7,500 acres of unique topography, unique upland prairie. Elk, Bear and Timber Wolves have been spotted in this region. Cross-country skiing opportunities available. This is the only WMA in Kittson County where blueberries have been found. Hunting opportunities for grouse and deer are excellent. Snowmobile - A groomed snowmobile trail runs through the unit. |

One will also see a black sign on the right side of the building’s front with the gold letters “Vintage Plus.” Walk inside the building and one will discover the reason for this sign. Inside, the hall is filled with everything from jewelry, butter churns, vintage clothing, such as an Arctic snowsuit, military clothing, paintings, snow shoes, pottery, baby buggies, Crocs, a white fireplace mantle, antique furniture, comic books, and a liquor decanter in the shape of the late Elvis Presley, playing the guitar and wearing a pink jacket, a black bow tie, and black pants. If wound up, the decanter plays the Elvis song, “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” |
