Otsego is a city in Wright County, Minnesota located at the confluence of the Mississippi and Crow Rivers. Minnesota State Highway 101 serves as one of the main routes in the city. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 30.49 square miles (78.97 km2); 29.56 square miles (76.56 km2) is land and 0.93 square miles (2.41 km2) is water. The elevation is 879 ft (268 m) above sea level.

As of the census of 2010, there were 13,571 people, 4,736 households, and 3,560 families residing in the city. The population density was 459.1 inhabitants per square mile (177.3/km2). There were 5,022 housing units at an average density of 169.9 per square mile (65.6/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 93.2% White, 1.8% African American, 0.4% Native American, 1.8% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.8% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.4% of the population.

There were 4,736 households of which 44.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.9% were married couples living together, 7.4% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.9% had a male householder with no wife present, and 24.8% were non-families. 17.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 2.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.86 and the average family size was 3.29.

The median age in the city was 31.8 years. 30.9% of residents were under the age of 18; 6.7% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 35.3% were from 25 to 44; 21.5% were from 45 to 64; and 5.7% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 50.7% male and 49.3% female.

OTSEGO Township, first settled in October 1852, organized in 1858, and its city in sections 17 and 18, on the Mississippi, were named for a lake, a township, and a county in New York. Henry Gannett notes this name as an Indian word, meaning "welcome water," or "place where meetings are held." The city was platted on 400 acres in May 1857 and incorporated in 1875 as a village. The post office operated 1856-57 as Berling and then as Otsego, 1857-1901.

Otsego Prairie Festival and Car Show

There will be exhibitors, activities and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy throughout the day including many new attractions and food vendors together with familiar favorites from previous years. The Otsego Prairie Festival starts at 10:00 a.m. and continues throughout the day culminating with a fireworks display at dusk. Last year’s Otsego Prairie Festival was an overwhelming success in terms of an increased number of attractions and vendors that in turn promoted large numbers of people to attend.
