History:
PUPOSKY is a village in section 23 of Durand Township
on Lake Puposky, an Ojibwe name recorded and translated by Beltrami
signifying "the end of the shaking lands," that is, swamps whose surface
is shaken and sinks when walked on. It has been also translated as Mud
Lake, with Mud River outflowing from it. The village was founded in 1904
when the Minneapolis, Red Lake and Manitoba Railroad came; its post
office began in 1905. Courtesy

Set in the midst of 160 acres of
mixed forest in northern Minnesota’s lake country the Belle
Thalia Residency offers a yurt dwelling , limited studio space ,
and outdoor clearings for work. The studio of sculptor Al
Belleveau uses many salvaged materials which suggest a certain
lifestyle that is independent, sustainable and closely connected
to the landscape. Because of Al B.’s profound connection to the
surrounding environment , the hope is that the residency program
will foster work inspired by the site. |

We are the 3rd generation
to be on this family farm. Its' farming history includes milk
cows, hogs, beef cattle and now specialty crops. We have been
growing strawberries since 1989 and we had visions of adding a
restaurant which we were able to do in 1995. We have a full
service restaurant that is open along with our berry picking
hours of 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sunday 9
a.m. to noon, providing a variety of breakfast and lunch items
for both eating in or take-out. We also offer fresh on the farm
made in our own kitchen in small batches strawberry and
raspberry jams, pumpkin butter, and jalapeno jelly. |

WildFlower Farm is a humble
little farm in Puposky, Minnesota. Its home to our family and a
variety of barn yard animals. This is where I traded my chef hat
for a straw hat and began to farm. After years of a career as a
professional pastry chef and bakery owner it was time for a
change of pace. My love for baking lead me to a love of good
food and grains. |
