Richmond is a city in Stearns County, Minnesota. Minnesota State Highways 22 and 23 are two of the main routes in the city. Richmond is 12 miles west of Interstate 94 on Highway 23. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.05 square miles (2.72 km2); 1.03 square miles (2.67 km2) is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 km2) is water. The elevation is 1,122 feet (342 m)

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,422 people, 583 households, and 392 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,380.6 inhabitants per square mile (533.1/km2). There were 627 housing units at an average density of 608.7 per square mile (235.0/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 98.0% White, 0.1% African American, 0.6% Asian, 0.6% from other races, and 0.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.8% of the population.
There were 1,903 households of which 28.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.3% were married couples living together, 6.5% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.5% had a male householder with no wife present, and 32.8% were non-families. 26.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 14% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.98.
The median age in the city was 39.4 years. 23.8% of residents were under the age of 18; 6.9% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 26.3% were from 25 to 44; 25.2% were from 45 to 64; and 17.8% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 50.6% male and 49.4% female.

RICHMOND, a city on the Sauk River, in section 24 of Munson, bears the surname of one of its earliest settlers; and it also partly commemorates Reuben Richardson, by whom this village was platted in 1856. The city was incorporated as a village on January 18, 1890; the post office began as Torah in 1856 and was changed to Richmond in 1909.
