Guide to Sherburn Minnesota

Sherburn is a city in Martin County, Minnesota. Interstate 90 and Minnesota State Highway 4 are two of the main arterial routes in the city. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.91 square miles (2.36 km²), all of it land. The elevation is 1,289 ft (393 m) above sea level.

SHERBURN, a city in section 7 of Manyaska Township, incorporated as a village on March 8, 1879, was named in honor of the wife of an officer of the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad, living in McGregor, Iowa, or possibly in honor of Sherburne S. Merrill, a Southern Minnesota Railroad official. It was platted by the Cargill, Bassett, and Hunting syndicate of Wisconsin about 1878, as was Mule Farm. A post office called Lone Cedar, 1867-79, was located about one mile south of the present Sherburn, where it transferred to in 1879.
