Guide to Spring Valley Minnesota

Spring Valley is a city in Fillmore County, Minnesota. U.S. Route 63 and Minnesota State Highway 16 are two of the main routes in the community. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.53 square miles (6.55 km²), all of it land. The elevation is 1,273 ft (388 m) above sea level.

SPRING VALLEY Township, settled in 1852, organized May 11, 1858, was named for its several very large springs, one being about a mile east of the village and two nearly as large within the townsite limits, one of these being walled up and used as a pumping supply for the waterworks. The township was the site of low-grade iron ore mining, 1942-67, by Hanna Mining Company. The city of Spring Valley was founded in 1855, incorporated on February 29, 1872, and reincorporated on April 28, 1919, when it separated from the township; its post office began in 1855.
