Waseca is known for our
comfortable and friendly atmosphere. Just one hour south of all
the big-city conveniences of the Twin Cities metropolitan area,
located 13 miles west of Owatonna and 25 miles east of Mankato
at the crossroads of State Highway 13 and US 14. Waseca offers
big city conveniences with the advantages of small town living.
Waseca is a vibrant community of 9,737 people comfortably
nestled between two beautiful lakes. |

Geography:
Waseca is a city in and the county seat of Waseca
County, Minnesota. U.S. Highway 14 and Minnesota Highway 13 are two of
the main arterial routes in the city. According to the United States
Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.19 square miles (13.44
km2); 4.00 square miles (10.36 km2) is land and 1.19 square miles (3.08
km2) is water. The elevation is 1,152 ft (351 m)
above sea level. From

Demographics:
As of the census of 2010, there were 9,410 people,
3,504 households, and 2,150 families residing in the
city. The population density was 2,352.5 inhabitants per
square mile (908.3/km2). There were 3,818 housing units
at an average density of 954.5 per square mile
(368.5/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 89.0%
White, 3.7% African American, 1.5% Native American, 1.0%
Asian, 2.3% from other races, and 2.5% from two or more
races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 9.0% of the
population.
There were 3,504 households of which 30.9% had
children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.7%
were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female
householder with no husband present, 5.0% had a male
householder with no wife present, and 38.6% were
non-families. 32.9% of all households were made up of
individuals and 13.8% had someone living alone who was
65 years of age or older. The average household size was
2.33 and the average family size was 2.95.
The median age in the city was 36.5 years. 22.5% of
residents were under the age of 18; 8.3% were between
the ages of 18 and 24; 30.1% were from 25 to 44; 25.5%
were from 45 to 64; and 13.4% were 65 years of age or
older. The gender makeup of the city was 42.6% male and
57.4% female.
History:
WASECA,
the county seat, in Woodville Township, platted in July 1867 on the line
of the Winona and St. Peter Railroad, was incorporated as a village on
March 2, 1868, and as a city on February 23, 1881. It succeeded Wilton
as the county seat in 1870. The post office began as
Woodville in 1864 and was changed to Waseca in 1867. Courtesy Minnesota

Waseca Lakefest 4th of July Lakefest on the 4th of July is a family
event celebrated in the perfect small town atmosphere of
Clear Lake in Waseca. The day begins with the Lakefest
Freedom Run followed by other day long activities in Clear
Lake Park. *Food vendors & Musicians *Games/Crafts *Boat
parade / paddlefest Fireworks at dusk Everyone is welcome to
share the 4th with Waseca at Clear Lake Park. Its becoming a

Second week in July Celebration begins with a free meal and
Minn-E-Rods Show on Wednesday. The thrills continue on
the
grandstand with a Compact Car Race and Roll-Over
Contest, Demolition Derby, Enduro Auto Race and the Eve of
Mayhem. The entertainment continues in the
Beer Garden with the following bands performing: The
Dweebs, Monsters of Mock, Side FX and Powerhouse. Lots of
Free Entertainment will be going on thru out the fair
grounds for everyone to come and enjoy!!! See you at the

Waterpark. The permiter of the pool is 569 feet, with a
water surface area of 9,561 square feet. The pool contains
240,331 gallons of water when full and requires 24 hours to
fill. Bather capacity is 581 people. Water temperature will
be maintained between 82 and 84 degrees. Water depth ranges
from 0 to 12 feet with a one-meter diving board at the deep
end. Lap lanes are laid out in two directions - 25 yards one
way and 25 meters the other way. |
