Braham is a city in Isanti and Kanabec counties in the state of Minnesota. Minnesota State Highways 65 and 107 are two of the main routes in the community. Minnesota State Highway 70 is nearby. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.62 square miles (4.20 km²), all of it land. The elevation is 958 ft (292 m) above sea level.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,793 people, 708 households, and 457 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,113.7 inhabitants per square mile (430.0/km2). There were 755 housing units at an average density of 468.9 per square mile (181.0/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 96.7% White, 0.5% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.4% Asian, 0.1% from other races, and 2.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.1% of the population.
There were 708 households of which 39.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.9% were married couples living together, 16.0% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.6% had a male householder with no wife present, and 35.5% were non-families. 29.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 3.09.
The median age in the city was 30.5 years. 30.5% of residents were under the age of 18; 8.1% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 29% were from 25 to 44; 19.5% were from 45 to 64; and 12.8% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 46.3% male and 53.7% female.

BRAHAM, a city in sections 1 and 2 of Stanchfield Township, administered with Kanabec County, was named by officers of the Great Northern Railway company. It was incorporated as a village March 5, 1901; it had a station of the Great Northern Railway, and the post office began in 1891.

Pie Day
Pie Day began in 1990 as a pie and ice cream social in July, funded by a tourism grant for festivals celebrating a community focus after the 4th of July. In 1992 the date was changed to the first Friday in August when the Isanti County Historical Society became the organization in charge of the festival. As we approach our 13th year, the event has grown to include crafters, small quilts display, a pie art show, unique foods, performances and demonstrations from folk artists, story tellers, and musicians. There are also pie baking and pie eating contests, as well as a pie relay race. Each year something new has been added. In 2001, the event drew over 5,000 people to town and enlisted 150 volunteers to bake and serve 525 baked fruit pies. |
