As the largest county fair in Minnesota, our fair offers a wide variety of events and attractions and admission is FREE! For one week each year the fairgrounds in Owatonna rivals a large shopping center. Vendors from 25 states and Canada bring a wide range of goods, from crystal to quilts, art to furniture, potato peelers to RV's. Over 100 food stands will tease the taste buds of fairgoers and have them eating everything from cotton candy to prime rib. Kids and adults of all ages will enjoy events from pig races to the puppet shows. Thrill seekers will prefer the 30 plus midway rides or one of the many attractions in adventure alley like the slingshot. Music lovers of all ages can visit the FREE entertainment stages and tap their feet to all kinds of different music. The Grandstand offers eight shows from auto racing to bull riding. With so much to see and do, it's no wonder that the Steele County Free Fair was named "One of the top events in North America".

World's Foremost Outfitter and the largest fishing, hunting and outdoor gear store in the Midwest. With three million visitors a year it is the second most popular tourist attraction in Minnesota. Your group is sure to enjoy this 150,000 square foot mega-store. Cabela's also offers an educational center that celebrates the outdoors and the men and women who enjoy it and a park-like restaurant that brings the great outdoors, indoors.

This beautiful Romanesque style building was built in 1886 and was the Minnesota State Orphanage for many years. The Arts Center hosts numerous local, regional, and national artists in the main gallery and performing arts hall. The changing exhibits create an interest for everyone, and the Christmas display is a highlight of the holiday season. Open Tuesday-Friday, 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sat & Sun 1:00 – 5:00 Closed holidays and Mondays. Free admission.

“The Orphanage Story” is told through history photos, plaques, and an exhibit of items from the orphanage time of 1886 through 1945. In front of the main building stands a memorial to the “State School Kids”. On the west edge of West Hills is the Children’s Cemetery, where each is remembered with a wooden cross bearing their name. Museum hours are 8-5:00, M-F (front door of Main bldg.) and 1-5:00 weekends (through the Art Center entrance SW corner of bldg.) Guided tours with full presentation are available for groups with advance reservation.

The setting features eleven buildings and a caboose from Steele County dating back to the 1850’s. There are two log cabins, railroad station, general store/post office, fire station, farm machinery building, blacksmith shop, country school, Dunnell mansion built in 1868, and the St. Wenceslaus of Moravia Church built in 1891. The buildings, furnished according to the time they were built, are connected by a boardwalk. The Village is open Tues-Sun from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. from May 1 – September 30.

Hidden Creek Golf Club is a scenic, well-maintained public golf facility located in Owatonna, Minnesota. Located 50 minutes south of Minneapolis, this 18 hole, par 72 championship course is a Links style golf course with rolling mounds and bent grass tees, greens and fairways. We welcome you to play and take advantage of our practice facilities that includes a grass range, putting green, and practice bunker.

Long ago, American Indians harvested wild rice from this lake where today, the shallow waters and marshy edges of Rice Lake attract many waterfowl during migrations. Rice Lake is a major wetland in the area. Visitors enjoy camping under the tall hardwoods, photographing spring wildflowers, picnicking, and birdwatching. For a more secluded camping experience, paddle across the lake and camp in a canoe campsite. Winter activities include cross-country skiing and snowmobiling on the trails.

River Springs Water Park features a tube slide, body slide, lazy river, activity pool and a zero depth entry pool. Open June 1st through Labor Day 7 days a week from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm (weather permitting). Daily admission is $6.50 per person which includes a tube. Coupon books are available.
