Lanesboro is a city in Fillmore County, Minnesota. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.32 square miles (3.42 km²), all of it land. The elevation is 856 ft (261 m) above sea level. Minnesota State Highways 16 and 250 and County Roads 8 and 21 are four of the main routes in Lanesboro. The elevation is 856 feet (261m).

As of the census of 2010, there were 754 people, 373 households, and 207 families residing in the city. The population density was 571.2 inhabitants per square mile (220.5/km2). There were 464 housing units at an average density of 351.5 per square mile (135.7/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.7% White, 0.3% African American, 0.1% Native American, 0.3% from other races, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.9% of the population.
There were 373 households of which 20.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.6% were married couples living together, 6.7% had a female householder with no husband present, 3.2% had a male householder with no wife present, and 44.5% were non-families. 38.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.02 and the average family size was 2.67.
The median age in the city was 49.8 years. 18.2% of residents were under the age of 18; 4.9% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 19.1% were from 25 to 44; 34.8% were from 45 to 64; and 22.8% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 48.4% male and 51.6% female.

Rhubarb Festival
This year's festival will be June 2, 2018! The fun starts early with the Rhubarb Run on the beautiful Root River Trail. Then browse the Lanesboro Farmers Market where you'll find all the in-season spring vegetables and other local delights. The heart of the festival takes place in Sylvan Park in downtown Lanesboro. Enjoy free rhubarb games and contests including the Tasting Contest where you'll taste a wide variety of delicious rhubarb treats and vote for your favorite. Great prizes for all events! Other free entertainment includes a rhubarb fashion show (you can be in it), an educational zoo, a Story Tree, pictures in a rhubarb cutout and Rhub-Art opportunities. Sons of Norway Lodge 108 Parkway Avenue S Lanesboro, MN 55949 Phone: (507) 765-2330 The main part of the Sons of Norway hall was built in 1910 by the Norwegian Lutheran Church, now Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and was used as a church hall. In 1921 the kitchen was constructed and in 1952, a bathroom and storage area were added on. In 1929 the Lanesboro Sons of Norway Heimbygda Lodge was established and on July 29, 1960, the lodge purchased the building from the Bethlehem Lutheran congregation for $3,600. The building, which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, has provided many memories as it is used for graduations, birthday and anniversary parties, girl scout meetings, Sons of Norway (SON) programs, Commonweal Theatre plays and so much more. |
